Did you know that oral cancer claims one life every hour in the U.S? That’s more than the number of lives lost each year to skin cancer, cervical cancer or Hodgkin’s disease. According to the American Cancer Society new cases of oral cancer and deaths are on the rise.

The key to reducing the devastating impact of oral cancer is early detection. Dr. Bugaj has incorporated ViziLite Plus, into the standard of care of his practice to ensure that his patients receive the most comprehensive oral cancer screening possible.

What are the Risk Factors for oral cancer?

Increased Risk

  • Patients aged 18-39 without lifestyle factors* who are sexually active (HPV16/18 virus)

High Risk

  • Patients age 40 and older without lifestyle risk factors*
  • Tobacco users – any age, any type

Highest Risk

  • Patients 40 and older with lifestyle risk factors (tobacco use/alcohol consumption)
  • Patients with history of oral cancer

*Lifestyle risk factors are defined as tobacco use, alcohol use of at least two ounces of alcohol three times per week and HPV (Human papilloma virus)
